Cody McCloud serves as a Principal at The Florida Group, based in the firm’s Tallahassee office. He brings to TFG a broad range of expertise in communications, media relations, political campaigns, and legislative affairs. With deep knowledge of Florida government, developed through years of service in the Governor’s Office and executive branch, Cody helps guide clients through complex state policy, appropriations, and political matters with strategic insight and precision.

Before joining TFG, Cody was Political Director for the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), serving as the primary liaison between the Party and the statewide campaigns of Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson during the 2022 election cycle. In his role at RPOF, Cody gained extensive experience in political operations, fundraising, campaign finance, and large-scale event management.

Earlier in his career, Cody held several key positions within Governor Ron DeSantis’s administration, including Director of Legislative Affairs at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). There, he managed the agency’s legislative priorities and worked closely with leaders, members, and staff in both chambers of the Legislature.

Prior to his time at DBPR, Cody served as Press Secretary to Governor DeSantis, acting as an on-the-record spokesman and traveling extensively with the Governor during his first two and a half years in office. In that capacity, he was responsible for shaping and executing communications strategies, managing complex policy issues, and ensuring the Governor’s priorities were clearly conveyed and effectively implemented.

A graduate of Florida State University, Cody earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and began his career as a Session Intern at The Florida Group. He was named a 2023 Rising Star in Florida Politics by Influence Magazine and is an avid golfer and member of Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee.
